fourfa
Pentax had the OptioWP and currently the W10. Olympus has the Stylus 720SW. Both get good reviews for usability, size, all around usefulness but not the highest marks for optical quality. The W10 edges out the 720SW if the reviews I've read are accurate. fourfa
I meant to add, there are waterproof housings available for most popular compact digicams. If you're after the highest possible image quality, that might be the way to go. Of course they become quite bulky compared to the pocket fit of the W10, and the housings cost an extra $120-200. phule
For many digital point and shoot cameras you can purchase a waterproof case as an accessory. That way you can use the digital point and shoot you want, in and out of the water rather than having to possibly sacrifice image quality, performance, or functionality to get a single solution.
