dead_metaphor
Greetings- I'm looking for perspective control software to use with images taken with an ultra-wide lens. Any suggestions? Thanks
ellis_vener_photography
Try looking in the crop tool in Photoshop CS2.
dead_metaphor
Thanks. I'm aware of the perspective control in the crop function. What I'd like to know is whether there is a dedicated plug-in or stand alone software that does a more efficient job.
ellis_vener_photography
More efficiently?
steve_unsworth1
I'm assuming you've also tried the lens correction filter in CS2 - filter>distort>lens correction. If allows a very simple but powerful way of correcting ballel/pincushion/perspective distortion.
AaronFalkenberg
Ellis: this really has nothing to do with the thread, but I thought I would ask since you're here anyway. What became of your V750 review? DM: give Andromeda LensDoc plugin a try. I find it great at correcting pretty extreme perspective distortion, and even the oddest barrel distortion which can be part of some ultra-wides. If you know the former is going to be unavoidable remember to compose loosly, as perspective correction always crops the side you're correcting. dead_metaphor
Ellis- you seem to have a problem with my post. Have I offended you somehow?
bobmichaels
Dead: I think what Ellis is saying is that the correction offered in Photoshop is very good and few can find any need to improve on it. Maybe you are in that unique group. If so, it would be good to say what you would like to accomplish that PS doesn't.
sergey_oboguev
Try PTLens.
johnmarkpainter
Dead, I just used the Filter/Lens Correction Tool in CS2 for the first time yesterday. I shot with a 12-24 and had to tilt the camera a bit to shoot a building. The Vertical Perspective correction worked quite well. I like it much better than the old Transform/Perspective method. I also had some Distortion to correct (curved verticals) and they are easily fixed as long as your lens has consistent distortion.
jimstrutz
Flo's Undistort is another option. It's a plug in that sells for $15. Very easy to use.
dead_metaphor
Thanks Guy! My problem is I'm using PS 6.0 (unless of course someone wants to send me a pirated copy of CS!) and the Perspective Control is less than optimal. I'll give the Flo software a try. Thanks for the input from you all.
