Fair Market Value of Fuji Lens?

Ok - I have to admit that I'm stumped on this one. Normally I'm

pretty good at figuring what a lens is worth, completed Ebay

searches, how much discussion there is out there about a lens, etc.

However, I just bought a lens (I think I got a good deal) and I can't

find any current comparables to figure out what it's worth.

It's a Fujinon A 360mm f/10, multicoated, lettering on the outside of

the lens barrel, Copal 1 shutter (with silver ring, Copal C shutter

type per Kerry Thalmann's page), both original lens caps, in

excellent costmetic and functional condition. This is one of

Kerry's "Future Classics", since it is the longest non-telephoto in a

Copal 1 shutter, is lighweight (475g) and compact (58mm front

element), and has a huge 504mm image circle - enough for 11x14 or

7x17. Kerry indicates that it's a rare lens, discontinued in the

early 90's before Badger Graphic starting importing Fuji lenses, so

it can't be found new (or used from what I can see!).

Anyhow, what do you think it's worth?

(No, this is not an offer to sell the lens, please dont ask)

Depending on condition, it mostly sells in the range of about 1200-1600 USD I think. They've been creeping up. Doesn't seem to matter if the lens in question is single or multi-coated.

I've got a single coated version. Razor sharp. Nice and contrasty.

You did notice the 600mm Fujinon-A on the auction site right now for about 2500 USD? First one of those I've seen. I didn't know there were A-series lenses longer than 360mm. Learn something new every day!

That is a tough one. It seems the prices have really been going up on the 360's since I've been looking for one. They started out affordable and I missed my window I think. They're starting to get very expensive. I think near or above $1K isn't unreasonable.

Thanks again for all the help! I think that James probably has the most accurate pricing info, and given the rarity of the lens, I would guess that prices are only going to go up. If I do decide to sell it, it'll be in the classifieds section.

Thanks!
