tholte
I am not a street shooter per se but I really love the genre and like the work that a lot of you men and women do here on PN. I think the work of DeCarava is truly outstanding and I think his street images are some of the best taken by anyone, past or present. Am I full of Milwaukee bologne or do any you serious street shooters agree or not agree.

john_sidlo
Yeah, I know the name and have admired his work. He was a black photographer who photographed in Harlem. You can see some of his work on www.masters-of-photography.com, and there is a 2-page spread in Bystander He's an example of a guy who photographed his 'hood. There's some good-sized advantage to that. It's there, it's accessible, and you know it. I like his focus on people and their expressions, and I like his work.

andrew_lee2
Heh, I vainly tried to become his protégé/apprentice a few summers back (he's still on faculty at Hunter College at the City University of New York). Phone calls unanswered, messages unreturned.
