7/7 rules ?

I read comments about the PN 7/7 rules.. what exactly is this?

I'm not sure if there's more than two 7/7 rules but the two I know of are: three is a limit to how many 7s you rate in a day and the second is you cannot reciprocate a 7 rating. The latter rule was put in place to reduce "mate rating"

You can't reciprocate a 7/7 immediately, but you can after some time has elapsed I'm not sure what the wait is though.

It's very clear...if someone gives you one 7 (aesthetic OR originality) you will be forbidden to give him one 7 during 14 days, even if the guy produces the best shot of the year...

That's the way PN is improving, among other systems like anonymous ratings...

I agree. not to mention the mysteriously high proportion of 4/4s in ratings of many photos.

Yes, it is very intelligent. Even if I do so say myself, since I thought of it.

 

A photo that is really the "best shot of the year" will have no trouble getting all the 7's it might need to be very visible on the site, without getting a 7 rating from someone who is reciprocating. If the only person who perceives that a photo is the "best shot of the year" is someone who is reciprocating a 7 rating on one of his own photos, then I suggest that perhaps it is not actually the "best shot of the year" and that we are better off without that 7 rating.

 

These "7 rules" have gone a long way toward diminishing mate-rating on the site.
