mary_peterson
I went in to develop my sheet film by inspection yesterday using my trustypinacriptol yellow an pmk developer and when I was done I was talking to myprofessor (who also develops by inspection) and he said that photoformulary hasdiscontinued pinacryptol yellow, what horror. I was wondering if anyone knew ifit was discontinued everywhere or if there was anywhere else to get it, evenabroad. Also what equal alternatives are there? randall ellis
There are a lot of rumors floating around, and just because an instructor told you something doesn't guarantee it's accuracy. I would contact the formulary directly to see if they still carry it or not, as well as other chemical supply shops. To the best of my knowledge, Photographers Formulary only sold Pinacryptol, they did not make it. - Randy
jim_shanesy
You really don't need to desensitize if you're using a pyrogallol based developer. The tanning action of the developer does that for you. Just don't look before the negative is about 2/3 developed.
