david_eicher
Cannot get it to register on the Flashmeter ??Have it at 800 ISO and a +1 power increase on Internal Flash. If I get within 3ft I can pull a F 2.8 I know the flash meter works, reads my Sunpak 544s with no problem. Is theresomething I don't know?? alan_olander1664878205
Your meter could be reading the pre-flash.
leicaglow
And you're firing the D50 in complete darkness where it's not trying to do its own AE?
mawz
Yes, if you set the camera to manual flash rather than TTL. Otherwise you're reading the pre-flash, which will just confuse the meter.
frank_skomial
This will sound funny, as it should. Vendors are trying to make "digital smart" optical slaves that know(they think so) the pre-flash protocol, and are supposed be able skip preflashes and trigger on the actual exposure flash blast. New Business Opportunity for vendors is just knocking at their doors:"Make a flash meter that is also "digital smart". Who would want to meter an iTTL mode flash output?, and even if so, what good would that do?
david_eicher
Alan, Adam.....you got it. Manual mode did the trick. Thank you very much.
