renny
Hi all, I am just curious as to how rating totals are arrived at. I frequently see pictures where the total posted is less than the actual count. Have not asked before but my curiosity finally got me. In the past I found such to be corrected but sometimes that didn't happen for a number of days. Specific case in point today and yesterday too: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo? photo_id=4586731 This photo has a posted total of 14 but the details clearly shows 17. Thanks for the clarificaation.
gungajim
Renny, It is sort of like the Immaculate Conception - a mystery to be pondered, not a questioned to be answered!
renny
*heh* Perhaps you are right! I have read repeatedly the disclaimers about anonymous raters, ratings by "friends" and discounting of new member ratings pending review... and chosen never to weigh into the melee... but there are times when it seems that the analysis lags are really just quite high. Perhaps it is a no win situation... for everybody... where the the logistics are just too overwhelming to make for solving with significance. Thanks for the response! If you really think about it, why does it matter?
mottershead
The discrepancy is usually caused by the fact that some ratings from new members are shown in the details but don't count in the totals for some number of days.
