marcelo_p._lima
Does anybody know of a good trick to bring down the mirror of the P67II after it's locked up (without exposing the frame, of course)? Sometimes I lock it up, ready to shoot, and something happens (like the sun goes behind the clouds, or the scene changes) and I'm forced to shoot because even if I shut off the camera the mirror comes down but exposes the frame anyway. steve_rasmussen
Marcelo: I can't do it with my Asahi and I doubt that you can with the 67II. Pentax's 35mm KX camera has mirror up and down, which is really nice. It is mechanical, which is what the 67 should have had. SR
mark_lutz
Marcello, <p> Try putting on the lens cap, fire the shutter. Next, slide the double exposure switch as you advance the film. Mark
steve_rasmussen
Mark got me thinking about this problem and can relate it to my 6x7 Asahi. I had accidentally released the film spool locking lever once on my camera and it would double expose. So, this fact can be used to save one frame of film once your mirror is up. So, if the mirror is up and you don't want to shoot it, put the lens cap on, fire shutter, disconnect the right hand film spool lever, advance the winder lever, reconnect the spool. I have double exposed by accident and am not totally sure this will work for the mirror up film waste problem. The spool may be difficult to reconnect. I will try it the next time the situation arises. SR
marcelo_p._lima
Yeah Mark, thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of that. I've already used your trick!
