frank_dzambic
This has happened to me a few times now since the site re-design. I type out a reply in a thread, hit the Post button, notice a typo, hit my Back button, and up pops the expired cache warning. Only sometimes though. If I go ahead and click ok to go back anyway, because I want to correct my typo, I'm met with a completely blank box where my text used to be. And no way to recover it! It's only annoying if the reply was a line or two. But if it was a lengthy reply, it's extremely frustrating to lose all that work. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way of knowing when it will happen. It's happened in more than one forum. I'm trying to remember to copy all the text into my clipboard before hitting POST so I can just paste it in if the problem occurs, rather than trying to remember everything I wrote and type it all out again. bobatkins
My guess is that it may not be related to the redesign. When that happens in IE6, 99% of the time it's because the temporary file cache is full of crap that IE6 has collected and not cleared. I don't know if Netscape 7.1 suffers from the same problem. If all else fails, one obvious "solution" would be to switch to the latest release of Firefox (which is based on the same engine as Netscape I think), or to Opera 8.0. Both are free. frank_dzambic
Yes, it's hard to say Bob. Kind of a funny problem. The only thing I know for sure is it started after the re-design. May be coincidence, may not be.
mendel_leisk
My similar question: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00C4uy with IE6 was cured by clearing the cache. Setting your browser cache to clear on close of program may permanently stop the problem, but it's curious that this seems to be happening a lot. Was the first time for me. Also, I used to form all my questions/responses in a separate text file prior to posting (which would help), but it became to much of a hassle, plus difficult to maintain if you post from different pc's. frank_dzambic
I just realized I forgot to include a screenshot of the exact error. Gotta stop doing 6 things at once!<div></div>
pitman
When the box is empty, click forward page and it should return to the confirm page with all the text. select & copy it then hit back again to paste back into the box. :0)
frank_dzambic
It should, but it doesn't. Once it's gone, there is no way to get it back again short of trying to remember everything and re-type it all again. That's why I posted this thread. The workaround I've found so far is to copy and paste everything to the clipboard before hitting the Submit buttton, just in case I do spot a typo or something I want to correct, and do run into a problem.
