josephwalsh
I've been trying to buy a back up battery for two months. Maybe you have too? What I don't get is this: Isn't the D200 one of the few---perhaps the only--- that use this battery? We understand that Nikon needs to ship a new battery with each new camera but can't the battery manufacturer make a battery a bit faster ---or a LOT faster---than Nikon can make a D200 camera? joseph_smith3
Most of us want more than one battery. If you have the mb-200 you might want three or four. And Nikon keeps selling new D 200s. That's one possible reason. Joe Smith
photo5
From what I understand the EN-EL3e is now the battery most dealers want on their shelves as it will also apparently work in the D70s and D50. I asked my local camera shop for one the other day and they said they were out too. Looks like the auction site is the best bet. Dave
ShunCheung
This issue has just been discussed with the last entry earlier today: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00GgET B&H is in and out of stock. It helps to search around.
User_1172872
The battery that came with my D70 was subject to the recall. The replacement was an en-el3e. If this happened a lot, perhaps it added to the out of stock situation you have encountered. Also, I don't know of any generic substitutes yet. josephwalsh
"It helps to search around."No doubt. But "where can I buy?" is a different question than "why is there a supply problem?"
ShunCheung
As far as I know, a fairly large number of EN-EL3's are being recalled because of the overheat problem, and in many cases, the replacement is the EN-EL3e; that contributes to the shortage. Moreover, the EN-EL3e can be used on the older bodies but not the other way around. Therefore, people are picking up the E version as spare batteries aregardless for the sake of future compatibility, even though they might only have a D70.
