screeny
Between all other rubbish I produce Im slowly trying to get the hold on portrait kind of phots. I shoot with Sensia II slides. For the well know openshade blue cast in cobination with the fill in flash Im thinking of trying a filter to se whether it works for me. I have doen lots of reading hear but a little more opinions from several people is always welcome So for portrait shot with Sensia 100 with fill in flash...shoot I go fro B+W kr 1.5 or for the Tiffen 812 or is the difference neglectable thx Marc

discpad
Actually, I know one top wedding photog who uses Tiffen 812A filters as his "lens protector;" and I adopted that for my own "people shots" for both color print and slide (C-41 & E-6) film use. For NASCAR, I use a haze filter, which I toss after the race because it's often pitted...
d._chan
Pop Photo compared a skylight, an 81A, and a Tiffen 812 filter. I think they preferred the skin tones from the 812 in open shade and flash. I remember seeing the photo comparison and there are noticeable differences. Anyway, Tiffen used to make a multi-coated 812 but I don't see it anymore so if you want to buy one they are pretty inexpensive. I bought a 46mm one and remember someone looking down at me for buying a Tiffen filter. I would say that the effect is more noticeable than a skylight and it is a different tone than an 81A so you would have to decide if you like it or not.
