david_craig1
Does anyone know if the exposure meter circuit in a Leica MP is 'off' (ie. drawing NO current) when the shutter is NOT cocked (film advanced) but the shutter speed dial is not set to 'B/OFF'? The handbook is unclear - at least in English. Thanks
SolaresLarrave
No, it isn't really off. If you want to have it completely off, turn the shutterspeed dial to B.
ben z
According to Leica the MP (or M6) draws no current if the shutter is uncocked regardless of the shutter speed.
ronald_moravec1
I never leave the shutter cocked and never drained a battery with my M6 in twenty years.
Bill Blackwell Images
The meter on any M6 or MP is not engaged unless the shutter is cocked. The meter will remain disengaged all the time as long as the dial is set to "B" (or off). “When you come to a fork in the road, take it ...” – Yogi Berra
billsr
If you feel opposed to storing your camera with the shutter speed setting at "B", just make damned sure there is nothing putting pressure on the shutter release. Best regards, Bill
