andrew_hull
Here is another photo from Oaxaca. Unfortunately, I should have selected a smaller f-stop in order to provide more depth of field to make the Mother's eyes sharper. This was shot wide open and focused on daughter's eyes.<div></div>
thirteenthumbs
The slight softness of the mother puts the main focus on the child and if both were in sharp focus then they would compete for the viewers main attention. Very nice shot.
johndc
The faces are too dark. 6/
andrew_hull
Charles thanks for the comment. John, I tried to make the faces as I saw them.
jay_capodiferro
I think that is a great shot. I agree that the faces need a little dodging, but it is still a great shot.
kai_griffin
Nice nonetheless, Andrew. I don't remember if you mentioned what film you're using in the other thread...? By the way, I think you asked about switching on FARE in your other thread. I can't answer that question, but I do have another question: does FARE work with [silver] B&W film on these latest flatbed scanners? I know that Digital ICE in dedicated scanners was not possible with B&W film, but things might be different with these flatbeds...?
razzledog
Very nice shot Andrew! Definitely much more than 6/10, but what you really need is a 'Wink Light' Cheers.
r_hofland
I agree-- nice shot! I did also boost the original image's brightness and gamma a bit and found it to be more natural and pleasing while not losing the qualities that the shadows and highlights provided in the original.
