Cheap zoom - Tokina ATX 50-250 f4-5.6

Not to down play your great find, but those photos are awfully fuzzy. I don't think you'll convince very many people that the lens is a good alternative to something from Pentax. Were you actually shooting from a tripod?

I agree it's a bit fuzzy, probably camera is still shaking a bit with the very slow shutter speed :-( yup with the self timer and MLU and on a tripod. anyway - just in case if they do find it cheaply not too bad own it :-) it has this one other option of doing macro also - it goes down 5cm from the object at 250mm or 1:1.4. i'll try to post beter pixs when it's not drizzling in the Kanto plain :-)

I'm going to take the wild guess that you won't be finding too many of any type of lens for $4 :)

I have this lens in Konica AR mount and it is surprisingly sharp. When I bought it, more than 10 years ago, it cost me $60. My only complaints are that it is slow and doesn't have a tripod socket. When you close it down just a little it is quite sharp in the close-up mode too. If I can find one of these in Monilta mount at a good price I will get it. The bright viewfinder of the X-700 combined with a grid or matte focusing screen will make it more usable.
