db1
Just trying to get a few opinions on this film? I use Agfa B&W exclusively and wonder about their color film. I plan on being in Oaxaca for a while and I am hoping to do a bit of color portrait work. Thanks.
jeff_drew4
I use it occasionally. Agfa XPS160 is about as low a contrast film as you can buy. It's relatively grainy today's standards. Skin tones are good and it has a very neutral pallette. If I were going to Oaxaca, I would strongly consider Kodak Portra 160VC or the UC series. Better colors, more contrast, less grain. Others will undoubtedly steer you toward Fuji choices. If you really are hooked on Agfa films, then take Optima 100 or 400. Again, I like Kodak's colors better, but Optima can do a good job depending on your output arrangements. BTW: I shoot box loads of APX 100 and APX 25. Good stuff! jason_fitzmaurice
Yes. I use it frequently. It is a beautiful film for the right purpose. It is VERY low sturation, and VERy low contrast. It can produce beautiful portraits, and is sometimes useful for night photography where it can hold some colour in the sky quite well. Certainly not a general purpose film, and when using it for portraits you want slightly higher contrast lighting than you would with PortraNc for example, but alovely film for some uses. db1
APX 100 is my favorite film. I have about 20 rolls of APX 25 left and will be shooting them there as well.
