How are the judges going to view the shots? Is it all via the internet or are folks going

to be sending prints to the judges?

Yeah, send prints! Archivally processed DW fiber based prints on 11x 14 paper, signed and dated, plus $20 for each print submitted so I can get some inexpensive frames. I'm liking this more and more. ;>)

UPDATE: hear me out.

 

1) I think we go with online pix. Sending prints would take up too much time/cost and besides not everyone gets to see them. I hope judges/coaches can judge the technical aspect of the pix based on online scanned pix, for this exercise...for now. Thanks. If we have another one, we can consider prints.

 

2) Tentative date for submission is 28th Feb 2005. All submissions online. I'll save the trouble of the potential coaches and will be taking in all submissions via my email. Send me pix with max dimensions 700+ on longest side..and compressed to your needs. Not too big. You may send text to accompany your pix.

 

3) Once all submissions in, I will load up 40 or so photos into my photonet folder. Pix will be credited to the sender and copyright labels will be stated in every photo. All photos in that folder will be labelled "team ? by ?". For all to view.

 

4)COaches from each team will pick 10 from their teams in that folder and let me know by mail. I will then delete the ommited pix and only 10 from each team will remain in my folder.

JUDGING.

 

1) To make it interesting, judging will be in 2 folds. All judges will judge as follows:

 

a) Head to Head Sudden Death--10 points for each winning pic, 0 for losing pic.

 

b) Overall Fav Group-----30 points, 0 for the other.

 

 

Head to Head means coaches from both teams will line up their 10 pix 1-10 and each will take on the other team's 1-10, singularly, like the Ryder Cup. Winning pic gets 10 points, losing pic 0. The competing 20 pix in my folder(10 from each team) will be given a number. Coaches are allowed to strategise and see which pic they want to go head to head with from the other team's corresponding numbered pic. They will do so by emailing me how they want to arrange their 10 pix numerically to "combat" the other coach's line up. I will update the pix accordingly everytime they tell me so. This will be reflected in the folder. Of course, the coaches may choose to omit this step altogether. That's ok too. Less work for me. But the offer to move your lineup is open. Coaches may also share their strategy with his teammates. e.g "who should I pair Ray's with? You think he has a chance against Beau?"..something like that..via email

 

The judges will first judge 10 pairs of pix head to head, give the points, and then select one fav group, which will get 30 points on top of the sigle matches.

 

 

I will offer to collate the judging votes via mail and reproduce them verbatim online in one of the threads when all results are in.

 

 

 

PS: this may all sound competitive but my intention is not to make it so. There're many dull ways to share pix already.;)

 

Coaches needed!! we can even have 2 coaches in each team for better decision making.
