marke_gilbert
Just got an MP, but I would like to continue using my 21mm biogon. I realize the Zeiss Ikon lenses are coming soon, but @ 1300.00, it may be more economically feasible to just adapt the lens I already have...
I know this can be done, but I have no idea who does it..
Any help appreciated. marke_gilbert
On second thought, is it even possible? What is the distance to film plane on the contax?
les_lammers
I have read that it can be done, g to m, someone in Japan does it and it runs $250. Not sure if the 21 can be converted. Try searching for the photoethnography site.
robert goldstein
Since the G lenses have no focusing rings and are autofocus only (or manual focus via the G camera's weird manual focusing dial,) I don't see how these lenses could be used on other cameras. If there is a way, I would like to know about it.

alan_wilder1
Back focus aside, I can't even imagine it possible since MF is done electronically via the body's servo motor to shift the lens elements for correct focus.
alan_wilder1
According to the previously listed web sites, I guess I'm wrong. Looks really neat.
ben z
How often do you shoot your Biogon at f/2.8? If not often or never, how about a Voitlander 21 f/4. I am extremely pleased with that lens and so are many others from what's been written. A non-ASPH Elmarit is also an option which will still be less than the new Zeiss. I'm currently working on wresting a mint late one away from a guy I know who hasn't used it more than 3-4 times since he got it.
marke_gilbert
Thanks ben, Ive owned both the last non asph elmarit and the VC 21mm-- If IM buying another lens, Ill go with the VC-- loved the small size.
I was thinking, if the conversion could be done at 500.00 or so, I could still keep the biogon, which is the best 21mm Ive ever used. jimdesu
The web-links are cool, but does anyone know of any English-speaking folks doing this kind of work?
