david_ceruti
It takes over an hour to download pictures from my one meg sandisk to my computer. Is this normal?I have a USB 2 card reader and a USB 2 port connected to a P4 1.7 GHz computer.Any advice would be usefulThanksDavid
paul_sokal___dallas__tx
No. I'd say mine (ultra 2) takes 20 minutes tops. What sandisk are you using? If it's a slower card, maybe that's why.
Ed_Ingold
The time sounds excessive. I have a comparable machine which takes 5 minutes tops. What software are you using to transfer the files? Have you tried using click-and-drag or copy-and-paste in Microsoft Explorer?
Spearhead
This seems like a very long time to download. Try rebooting, don't launch PS, and then do it. It would help to know what software you are using. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
david_ceruti
Thanks for all the replies! first one correction - it is a 1 Gig disk. I bought it in 2003 and it does not have 2x or 4x or anything like that on the disk. On the back there is SDCFB and the patent no. Software is Windows XP SP2 and I copy the images using the Windows copy and paste function. Also, downloading the same amount of images (e.g. 75Mb) from one of my 128 Mb cards is much faster. Thanks for the interest so far David
paul_sokal___dallas__tx
Sounds like a basic Sandisk card which writes slowly and so I assume would copy slowly too, particularly with a GB. You might try a Sandisk Ultra2 or 3 or an Extreme if they work in your camera. One of the smarter members may have better advice.
craig_gillette
I have a basic 256 meg Sandisk CF card. It's dreadfully slow, but that seems long compared to mine, and I'm using a USB 1 port/reader. Is the port external (a hub?) and is it possible that it's a USB 1 port/system?
