Former P.N Member
You should check with the specific zoo to determine their policy. Here's a link to one to demonstrate the type of restrictions that might apply.
http://www.detroitzoo.org/Visitors/Photo_Policy/Photo_Policy/
buckry
I sure hope so, it might be easy to get a giraffe to sign a release, but good luck getting one from a tiger.
sknowles
The Detroit policy sounds normal, no commercial use of the photos, no zoo names or logos in the photos, and no tripods or lights. Otherwise, shoot, er, photograph, away. And for releases, I would suggest their agent, the elephants, who don't have to write anything down. They remember it all and you too. So, be nice and polite, and promise lots of free food. And when you're done, don't fall for the "Give me a hug." line. Good luck.

randy_forrester
In my own recent research of the matter, I've found it greatly depends on whether the zoo is publicly owned or privately owned. I've also found that a few private zoos charge a professional photographers' fee ($100 a year, I think) for any commercial use of photos taken...which I consider reasonable.
