Jerry_
If you are using i-TTL on a D100, you have a new invention. The SB-800 is made for the D70 camera: the SB-__DX speedlight is what you need. The DX-type speedlight provides a 'pre-flash' for the D100 to establish how much light to add to a scene for a good exposure.
beno_t_marchal
I beg to differ. The SB800 supports D-TTL and therefore is compatible with the D100 (read the manual it says so explicitely).
Tina, beside the obvious (flash has a defect), there could be several reasons: subject too far away from the flash, you have dial-in an EV, highly reflective subject, etc. Could you post a (couple of) photo(s) for us to look at?
--ben
marchal.com
ellis_vener_photography
first; get out of program mode and switch to either Aperture or Shutter priority or manual mode.
alistair o
That flashing of the ready light means that the SB800 believes that your photo will be underexposed. In your case it sounds like the SB800 is correct. It will also show you on the LCD by how many stops you are underexposed. You need to dial in that number of correction stops or take some other corrective action. Can you please post a sample picture and we can tell you a little more easily why you are getting underexposure and what the best corrective steps may be. Regards.
