mike kadlec
In the most recent issue of Rolling Stone they feature a number of past portraits including a recent one of Johnny Cash. In the portrait the highlights in the eyes are a pair of long vertical lines. I was wondering if anyone would know how to reproduce this effect. Is it done with flourescent tubes or something else? (Sorry I do not have the image avail to post so hopefully someone out there who can respond has the issue) Thanks!
ellis_vener_photography
Who is the photo credited too?
mike kadlec
Martin Schoeler(sp?) is the photographer. The Cash photo is on page 138 of the issue, He also used the same effect with two additional round lights on a portrait of Dave Matthews on page 143. ellis_vener_photography
I thought so. Martin uses 4ft long Kinoflo Diva lights. Essentially these are high end focusable daylight balanced flicker free fluorescent fixtures designed for motion picture and television production. he uses them very, very close to his subject.
