Can a rating completely disappear?

Can a rating just disappear from your photo? I uploaded a photo last

night, this morning there was 1 rating....and the one persons name who

left the rating....than I put the photo up for critique this morning

and both the rating and name of the person are gone! The comment is

still there. I think you can change a rating, but you cannot

completely delete a rating....the name would not disappear. What's up

with this? Thanks.

There is a program that automatically deletes 1 and 2 ratings from the database when a person has "too many" of them compared to their total number of ratings. Moderators also may delete ratings. Sometimes a whole user account is "nuked", although this is rare. When that happens, everything associated with the account is removed, including the ratings.

 

If you don't think any of these apply, then there might be a bug, because people in theory can't delete ratings.
