miha_steinb_cher
Hi, Does anybody know if Sonnar 2.8/180 for Pentacon Super is a standard P6 lens with an adapter or is a dedicated unit? Thank you! Regards, Miha
dan_fromm1
I handled two of them two weeks ago. One with no diaphragm, one with broken diaphragm. Both had fixed P6 mounts, i.e, dedicated. But that lens was also used on Exaktas so I don't think the lenses I saw settle the issue. Good luck, Dan
al_kaplan1
All of the 180/2.8 auto Sonnars I've seen were in a mount for the Pentacon-Six/Practisix and were available with auto adapters to fit Exacta and Pentax/Practica screw mount cameras. I think a Nikon adapter was available too.
michael_linn
The Pentacon Super is a 35mm camera and uses M42 lenses which would include the Sonnar as a common standard unit.
miha_steinb_cher
Pentacon Super uses modified M42 mount with mechanical aperture information transfer for open aperture metering which rules out standard M42 (or later electric) adapter if there is an adapter at all. There has namely be a mechanical linkage between aperture ring and lens mount, probably the second plunger. IMHO there're equal chances for an adapterless unit and for a somehow modified P6 mount lens with Pentacon Super M42 adapter. The later could be used on other than M42 cameras, the former of course not. Unfortunately I can't find any reliable info on the matter. pensacolaphoto
I use the CZJ 180mm/2.8 lens on a Mamiya 645 with an adapter, and also on a Canon FD camera. It's a good lens, but is large and heavy and does not focus close without an extension tube.
