jack_lo_..._t_o
[The real Proxy Struggle will occur if Houston wins in the NL.] I instinctively root for NY teams, but in the end I was happy for the Sox. Congrats to all you Bean-Towners. David Ortiz is a force of nature.
jeff_lu
im happy im a pacifist otherwise id present a danger to myself...... but gotta hand it to the sox...yankees choked like no other..... glad i left cambridge...
jeff_lu
speaking of kerry...if kerry and bush are the yankees and sox, or sox-yankees, whatever...isn't that fitting? the richest and the second-richest presented by the media as diametrically opposed while the third-party small market teams get shafted by the system...yeah im not too happy about us politics either... ray .
I'd like to see some stat- what happens to a team after they have a blow-out and score a huge amount of runs like the Yanks did- 19. That's always a peak and it's downhill from there. They only needed to win one more game, but in producing that many runs it's as if a team exhausts it's hitting and scoring capability.... The first 3 games the middle of the Yank's lineup looked invincible and Damon looked like your grandma trying to hit, but by the end it had all been reversed... jeff_lu
i thought of the 96-54 bulls-jazz rout, and afterwards the jazz came back stronger, but the bulls still closed it out...the lakers blowing 3-0 lead over the blazers but still winning game 7... five huge games in a row taxed the pitchers and hitters...and the bosox are a better team than the yanks....sigh
ray .
A-Rod....... what a bonehead cheater. The turning point in the series to me was when the Sox put a runner on first (game 4?) and Roberts pinch ran and stole second. They were off to the races from there... jeff_lu
a-rod was the biggest choker....and seriously how could he expect to slap a ball away and not get called out? he shouldve just kept going and smashed into arroyo to try to get the ball out...jesus i had a bad feeling about mariano all year...ever since 2001 actually...hes not the same anymore....and after the tragic events and the overworking....im not surprised he blew a couple saves im looking forward to offseason and more steinbrenner drama...he must be pissed...and cashman looked like he was pissing in his pants the entire game
working camera
Do you think India could have scored the runs needed to on the final day at Chenai had the monsoon laid off for another day and not soaked the pitch? Shame about that prat Victorian leggie Shane Warne becoming the highest wicket taker in test history. Then talent doesn?t always come with dignity in this day and age. World Series! What World Series? It's only played in one country and one Canadian province. Get global and watch some cricket. C.
joshroot
Cricket puts me to sleep. But I'll meet you halfway with soccer. There's an international sport I enjoy.
ray .
Will, there aren't points in baseball, they're called runs.
runkel
My guess is that this thread would not exist if the NYY had sent Rivera out to start the 8th inning of Game 5. It was very uncharacteristic for Torre not to go for the jugular in that situation. That decision gets my vote for the turning point.

working camera
If you think cricket is boring then may I suggest you pop down to Barbados next summer when the West Indies are playing England. It can get quite exciting believe you me. Cricket is as much about what happens in the stands or ?on the hill?, as what goes on in the middle. BTW the best ever World Series was when the Blue Jays won way back when.
working camera
I don?t actually know if England are playing the Windies next summer but go anyway, you?ll enjoy the experience.
kevin m.
The only thing better than making baseball history in coming back to win the series was doing it to the Yankees and their fans. The Canadians just lost their team, BTW. Poor attendance. The Expos are moving to Washington D.C..
