gene crumpler
He died Monday and was buried Wednesday 8/4. Apparently his family kept his death from the press until after the Funeral. andy_piper2
"ON-ree CAR-tee-yeh-bres-onh" "yeh" as in a cheer, and you don't quite actually pronounce the final "nh", just sort of exhale it - like saying "ON" without letting your tongue touch the roof of your mouth. Or you can just pronounce it "Hank Carter" - as some New York ("Holiday"?) picture editor did in the 50's.
fernando_mcsoto
The British newspaper The Guardian has dedicated most of his front page to him, with a wonderful picture of of him by Jane Brown. It has also three pages dedicated to him in the interior of the newspaper.

martin_courtenay_blake1
Whilst some of the press here in the UK reported the great man's death in a way befitting one of such stature, one member of the tabloid press (trash) pronounced his departure thus...Famous "Snapper" Dies! Alas the end of the world is upon us.
fernando_mcsoto
It is a pity that we have to cop with tabloids in the UK. Such a press are responsible for much of the XIX Century attitudes you sometimes find on some people here.
