lkv
I know no other ways than to use the adapter ! The batteries don't exist anymore. At least not here in France...<br> But it will last you for ages, so the 30 bucks are well invested !<br> Lenny<br> <a href="http://www.afimage.com">AFimage - Photographe</a>
richard_oleson
Last time around, I used a set of 1.4 volt Zinc/Air cells in my 35EL. You need to insulate the metal battery chamber if you want to use multiple separate cells this way (I just cut a piece of paper and rolled it into a tube to insert into the chamber). The Zinc/Air cells worked okay, they're not too expensive.... what happened to me was that after a time one of the cells went bad and the camera stopped working with 3 good cells still in it. I haven't worked with this arrangement enough to know if this was just a freak occurrence; I get a fairly good life out of the Zinc/Air 675 cells in single-cell applications in other cameras, about 6 months per load. It's probably worth a try, they don't cost much (less than a dollar each in multi-packs for hearing aids) :)=

paulh
Take the existing battery out, then carefully take it apart - this consists of outer paper, inner plastic tube, some mercury button cells, and a couple of caps. Throw away the paper, dispose of the cells in the proper manner and keep the rest. Then get two CR1/3N batteries (I think, better check). Drop the plastic tube in the battery compartment, then insert the two CR1 batteries. Job done. No need for any special adapters. I've used this for some time, and slides come out perfectly exposed on my 35GT. You could also use zinc-air batteries in the salvaged plastic tube. subminiature
PX27 batteries are available in silver cell versions. Not cheap, but last for a very long time. Try Small Battery Company for a range of replacement and equivalent batteries. Also check out 7dayshop.com for price comparisons www.submin.com/forsale/shops/smallbattery/index.htm http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=
warren_yee2
Quick note about air/zinc...It seems to help to rotate the order of the batteries every so often. They seem to work a little more consistantly. I guess the air does not penatrate evenly as use and time oxidizes them.
