Tri-X in PMK

One of the beauties of Tri-X has always been its latitude to operator

errors. I'm just about to try a couple of rolls (for the first time)

in PMK. Does the tolerance for exposure variation and

time/temperature variation hold, or is it tricky?

This is one of my favorite films for pyro. I've used all three of the old flavors of tri-x in pyro: TX, TXP, and TXT (now discontinued). All these films are very easy to work with. I have not yet tried the new tri-x emulsions, as my freezer is still half full of the old versions of this film.

Nothing tricky about it. I use asa 200 and about 15:00 of development (like the snap the extra minute gives) which works well. Remember to agitate every 15 seconds, use distilled water to mix working solutions, water stop and TF-4 fix (no acid please). Beautiful combination for tonality.

Tri-X is one of the best films to process in PMK. I get a full ISO 400 out of it (21 degrees, 14:00, 35mm format). The tonality is rich and beautiful. Don't expect to be able to push Tri-X in this developer, but at the rated ISO or lower, it is worth trying. Tri-X does have a higher general stain than most films, but it doesn't affect its printing qualities deleteriously.
