huw_finney
To re-luba a Nokton First remove the ring securing the lens unit, and remove unit. (this is 10 sections long, please wait to the end)<div></div>
huw_finney
Then remove the focus scale, this also has the focus travel stop on it.<div></div>
huw_finney
Extract these three screws and remove the inner helix.<div></div>
huw_finney
When removed, dismantle, marking the seperation point, lube and re-assemble.<div></div>
huw_finney
Four screws and the bayonet and outer helix come off.<div></div>
huw_finney
Same as the inner helix, unscrew, mark, lube and screw. This helix is so finely made it takes ages to get it to locate again! don't panic perseverence and NO force is the key.<div></div>
huw_finney
Mark the position of this part. Both ends for accuracy.<div></div>
huw_finney
And remove...<div></div>
huw_finney
Unscrew the fine thread, clean and re-lube, screw all the way down and loosen 1 turn. This part does not act as a helix, merilly a cheap rotating part.<div></div>
huw_finney
Finaly re assemble reverse to dis assembly, the inner helix only goes in one way, and has to otherwise the lens assembly would be upside down. Finaly clean off the external surfaces and insert the lens unit. There you have it, a re-lubed Nokton. Don't panic about getting something out by a thread or so, the errors are gross if this happens and easy to see. The best reference is that the three surfaces at the bayonet end are nearly flush at infinity.<div></div>

paul_neuthaler
. . .then put all the pieces in a bag, send them to Stephen Gandy with the phrase: "Habe einen fahlert(Sp.?) gemacht!" And hope he responds!!!
huw_finney
Oh ye of little faith, mine is much better now. Just did a check on my 'error' it really doesn't matter which one you do first.
david_bolduc
I've taken some dirty lenses apart that I bought off *bay to clean them, and I can really appreciate your efforts and your photographs. Thank you for taking the time to show the rest of us how this is done.
huw_finney
David, thanks, glad to help anyone. It is still a little too stiff for my liking, I will leave it for a while and let the grease settle. Probably something to do with having 3 threads turn at once. The re-lube has got rid of the annoying 'the lens sticks if you put any force on the moving bit while focussing' problem. This is a problem with all my 'double helix' CV lenses (35 M, 28 Nokton and this one) but none of my Leica ones, better grease I suppose.

huw_finney
I can see a roaring trade in re-lubes!
owen w.
I don't think I have the courage to do this, but I surely do appreciate the photos and instructions in the process. You could just do this, but the taking time to document and share is really wonderful. Thanks. Owen
