tomasz_zakrzewski
I absolutely love Fujifilm Reala but sometimes need more speed. Did you find any ISO 400 negative film to have the same characteristics as Reala? I tried NPH which I quite like but I'd really prefer more saturation.I think that saturated color + moderate contrast and very good skin tones is what I'm looking for. Most standard negs give too high contrast.
scott_eaton
Either NPZ or UC 400. Think of NPZ as a higher contrast, higher speed version of Reala. UC 400 is a different film entirely, but it's a wonderfull 400 speed print film all around.
eric friedemann
I don't have Scott's experience with Kodak UC film, but he is correct about NPZ (ISO 800). I shoot NPZ at E.I. 400, as I find the film to be overrated. Others shoot NPZ at 560 or even 800. NPZ has an attractive color pallette and scans well. Shot at less than ISO 800, NPZ exhibits fairly low grain. I particularly like NPZ in 120. NPZ is an excellent higher-speed compliment to Reala. rich815
I'd agree on the 400UC. A very nice film though the color palette is not a perfect Reala look it's got more saturation and contrast than NPH. You might also consider a lens(es) 2 stops faster and still shoot Reala? pphaneuf
Another yelp for NPZ. It has no tolerance for underexposure, though, but has no problem with (reasonable) overexposure, so I concur with the setting your camera at ISO 640, 520 or 400 (experiment a bit to see what works best for you, I like 640 myself). But the same is true of Reala, so...
