al_divenuti
Just purchased some Edwal FG-7 from Calumet Photo and I'm trying to get in-depth product info. on the Web. I know that Edwal Photographic Products was purchased by Falcon Safety (NJ-based company) a few years back. But no info. can be found on Edwal on Falcon's website. I emailed two different Falcon Saftey sales reps and both gave me the same response - Falcon Safety has not now nor ever offered the Edwal line of photographic chemicals...nor did they ever own a company named Edwal. I'm totally bewildered. Anyone have a link to whatever incarnation of Edwal exists today? Thanks!
titrisol
FG-7 is a very good developer, look for times in Digitatruth BrandessKaltAtena (bkaphoto.com) has technical info on Edwal products. And they are the main distributors now. You can contact them @ bkaservice@bkaphoto.com
al_divenuti
Thanks for the link. Sadly, they can provide remarkably little. They only have the MSDS available. Is there any source of product info. available that explains shelf life, etc? Thanks!
trooper
I haven't even been able to get the MSDS to come up.... Did you? The shelf life is quite amazing for FG7. Transfer into an amber glass bottle (2 smaller ones are better) upon receipt of a new supply and you will have many months of perfectly predictable developer. Most films behave best under-rated and not over developed in FG7 from my experience. I have heard that FG7 is somewhat unique in composition and I was hoping to study the MSDS for clues in that regard but it hasn't come up for me on their web site's MSDS link. gary_a._hill
I use FG7 and have a data file at home, but I don't remember what site I got it from, and it's probably changed anyway. Do you just need the development chart? What films?
al_divenuti
Actually, with some searching I managed to find the following source of information: http://www.fineprintsphoto.com/edwal.html It may not be up to date. Regarding the MSDS - I couldn't get it off of bkaphoto's site - a support rep. actually faxed it to me!
al_divenuti
Craig - Just found an online MSDS at: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/pdf/msds/edwal/Edwal_FG_7.pdf Wonder if Muriatic acid is Metol? Also: note the high innate Sodium Sulfite content. Interesting, considering that FG-7 is frequently mixed 1:15 with a 9% Sodium Sulfite solution! garrylewis747
>Wonder if Muriatic acid is Metol? It's what you buy at the hardware store to clean you brickwork with HCL - hydrochloric acid.
