Now how many of you thought *I* was busted?

Went back to Haymarket today, and on the way back, there were a

lot of blue lights in coolidge corner. Mostly since it doesn't cost

any money to get off and back on the T (haha!) I jumped off to see

what was up. Just as I strode up they cuffed this guy (I have

several more that I haven't prepped), and one of the cops took off

(the one on the left in the second photo) at a furious pace and

emerged from Trader Joes as shown, less than 60 seconds later.

I like the first shot. Though I wish the soles of their feet were there, his expression more than makes up for it. But I wish the second was a little tighter. The point of interest for the shot is the girl and her pained/pissed expression/pose.

But good job capturing something that randomly happened in front of you!

Gary, why imply racism where there's no proof it exists?

In the top photo the cop in the background appears to be Hispanic to me. And the second photo clearly shows a blonde - whether bleach or natural, she looks white to me.

Besides which, anybody who's watched "Cops" on teevee knows that, unless they're at the beach, guys without shirts and women in tank tops and shorts are just asking to be arrested.

Both are pretty good photos, John, especially the first. I can't decide whether the second would be better with a tight crop.

Here are two more of the first guy.

When I turned around to look at what he was looking at (he wasn't looking directly at me, believe it or not), I saw the cops coming out with the woman.

These were shot with a 24mm (= 36mm on the d100), and cropped. I chose to include the other cop on the right to show more context, although I considered coming in tight on her. I wish I hadn't cropped his feet too.

I shoot raw for the extra resolution, and the buffer filled up on the woman, so I missed further shots of her - first time that's happened to me - I don't normally do this kind of thing, and I can see the value of a big fast buffer when you do this a lot.

As for the cops, I can't say I saw them do anything wrong, nor do the photos show them doing anything wrong. Part of their job description is to arrest people when evidence of a crime exists. I *was* surprised with how quickly they moved - they guy had been sitting down, and when they told him to stand up, they had the cuffs on him quickly. The first photo was at 16:41:43.9, #2 at 16:41:45.7 and #3 (the one at the top) 16:41:48.7. I watched, and pressed the shutter when it felt like the right time.

Gary, thought this was about the shot? As a woman, maybe I've got some more validity with you. The man looks cooperative - the woman does not. She is just as capable (maybe more so as we tend to "fight dirty") of spitting in your eyes, biting you and scratching you with her fingernails to give you some very nasty and possibly incurable infections. Get over it - they're doing their job.

This is speculation, but a few seconds prior to the first chronological image (2nd above), the cop shown holding the woman's right arm received a call on his walkie-talkie, and answered "I'm on it" and dashed off at a full run, and ducked into Trader Joes. I turned and started snapping the first guy. Less than a minute later the woman and the cops came out. I'll guess she was already in handcuffs, or about to be, when he got the call, and the call was asking for help restraining her, given his speed.

John, these are very good shots. Imagine how fast you had to work. And you had no hassles from the cops?

Wonder if the man and the woman are a couple? There is something very attractive about them in the raw Ten. Williams sense.
