dru_johnson
hi!i'm currently in a b/w photo class, and i admit, i don't know a whole lot about the subject.i bought warm toned paper(accidently) and it makes an obvious difference when i print out my pictures.is there any circumstance when it would be better to use warm toned paper given the picture taken?what about cold tone? there has to be a time where one is the better choice over the other. thanks for reading!i hope someone can help me outttt
Monophoto
Dru - The choice between cold and warm tone is an artistic consideration. Traditionally, cold tone papers have been preferred for seascapes, snowscapes, and perhaps architecture, while warm tone papers have been preferred for portraits, for still live, and for subjects involving textured wood. But those rules are very soft and are often broken.
ckp
Warm tone papers are especially good with toners like sepia and brown toners. You can get some really nice chocolate browns. Just depends on what you are looking for in tone.
