At the corner of Geary and Jones in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood is one of San Francisco diviest bars, the

High Tide Lounge. Over the last five years or so it's been a hangout of sorts for a lot of SF street shooters. What's great about the

place are the neighborhood people you'll find on the stools and the cheap booze. People hanging around are not only good for a few

snaps inside, but are willing to be posed outside as well, such as Hung up above. Or, you can spend an hour outside on the

corner and engage a lot of people walking by going in and out of the neighborhood.

I certainly hope to. The Parks exhibit closes on 4-27 so I don't think I'll make up before then. I need to put in 3-4 weeks notice to get time off work and even then I don't always get the days requested off. Then I have to wait to get the OK from my father whom I stay with when I visit.

Last night, I was on Haight Street to shoot a show. Some people were standing on the street chatting and I walked over and just started snapping. This woman said candid photos of her looked terrible, took someone's glasses and put them on. I suspect her eyes are closed because looking through the glasses wasn't comfortable, but this did come out better than the candid I snapped just before.

Jimmy is a Navy veteran, like me, also in Southern California during the 1980s, so we swapped a few stories about the service - mostly about the vices of young men. Although my tour was a few years earlier than his we're pretty close to the same age. I didn't notice the slogan on his sweatshirt until I got home. Although I do occasionally need a cane for long walks, I'm not quite ready to ask for my senior citizen's discount. I'm putting that off for as long as possible. I'm not averse to discounts. Just not ready for the senior citizens designation.
