j._raabe
So I've got ahold of 12 rolls of this stuff (120 format) and am wondering if anyone's got any tips as far as filtration and exposure (filter factors, I guess I could say).. In my bag, there's a 29 Red and an 89B - I think I'd rather use the 89B, which I really like on SFX & Maco IR820c. Searching a bit on google, it seems as though this is either a relatively new, or un- talked-about film. I can't even find a data sheet on the mahn.net website! They do post a few processing times, however.
pen name above
www.retrophotographic.com Try the data sheet on the Maco CUBE film there. Failing that, there is a specialised traditional black and white forum on the link provided at the above address. Regards,
stephen hazelton
It gives some processing times, etc., on Freestyles site, www.freestylephoto.biz, search for "cube". As for it being new or untalked about- is it possible that it IS just the Ilford film?
roger_hicks1
Wonderful stuff. I first tested it for Black and White magazine in the UK a couple of years ago. No, it's not Ilford. It's coated in Croatia and like SFX it's an ex-traffic surveillance film with extended red, so your filter factors with 'sky' filters may be a little lower than with conventional ISO 400. Otherwise it's like a (slightly faster) SFX with gorgeous tonality -- use similar filtration and EI. Develops very nicely in Maco's own Supergrain. Cheers, Roger
j._raabe
Thanks! I'll shoot it sort of the way I use SFX as a trial. I'd love to try Maco's developers, but getting those over here in the US is something of a hassle.. I've got PMK & R09 on hand, so it'll have no choice but to work well in those; everything else I shoot works well in one of them..
