chris_eve
Some 15 years (or more) ago I tried to intensify some even older underexposed negatives, with marginal success. Given the capabilities of digital processing I thought I'd try scanning them, only to find that they've got brown smeary stains, no doubt a result of an incorrect or incompleted intensification process. I've tried washing the negs and re-fixing with no improvement. Does anyone have any experience of these symptoms and how to rectify the negatives? Unfortunately I have no idea which intensification process I used, just that it was a purchased kit. TIA Chris Eve
wickedmartini
My guess is that the stain is the result of either residual fixer or possibly your intensification solution--depending on what was used. At this point you are already seeing the result of that residual and odds are very umlikely that you will be abble to reverse it. I would try a re-wash of the negatives and maybe a quick hypo clearing agent or eliminator before hand. Good luck! Michael D. D'Avignon
