Single Use Rates for a Billboard

Recommended Posts

This is straight out of FotoQuote. I hope it's OK to include here:

The fotoQuote Billboard prices reflect average regional use by local or regional companies. For national advertising campaigns, the prices can be 80%-100% higher than the prices listed. Very local campaigns can be a bit less. The prices are also reflective of photos that are major elements on the billboard. Spot photos that are minor elements may bring 50%-75% of our listed prices.

I have found that clients who do advertising on billboards usually have extensive budgets. That's because billboards are usually the last type of advertising a company will do during an ad campaign. The thinking is if someone does billboards, they've already spent a lot of money on other types of advertising and they are working with big budgets. For this reason you should remain firm on your prices. The price of billboard images is usually determined by the number of locations the billboard will appear, and the length of time the billboard will be up.

If the campaign is to remain up for more than one year, determine your one year price, then charge a percentage of around 75% for each additional year. If you are pricing a single billboard, the location of that billboard will be a determining factor in your price. For instance, if the billboard is to be shown in Times Square or on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, or any other prime location, charge a premium of between 25% and 50% of the base price.

3 months 1-3 locations = $1800

6 months 1-3 locations = $2400

1 year 4-12 locations $4350

Those are a few conflagurations- you decide how to handle it.

The pont is - charge appropriatley. Don't undervalue your work. If they want your image they will pay for it. Don't be like 80% of the people on this forum and give it away because of insecurity or uncertaintity or whatever. If they want your image for a billboard then they see it as having real value, bill accordingly, Good Luck!
