Exactas were "backwards", left hand wind and release. For most people they were difficult to get used to, but the medical and scientific community used them frequently mounted on microscopes or on a copy stand with a macro lens. In that position they effectively were right handed cameras. The ease of switching to a waist level or high magnification "chimney" finder made for convenient viewing in this position. There was also a a variety of easily interchanged focussing screens, including a clear center spot with a crosshair, easily the most accurate screet for ultra high magnifications.

Just for fun I set my VX1000 up on a tripod with a strange 500mm f/8 preset tele lens ("Optica" brand ???)and the pic's actually were quite good !!!! The camera is heavy and makes a hell of a racket when the shutter fires (and that's after a CLA) but it is kind of addicting to use once you get used to using your left hand a lot more. It would a good camera to use with one of those old "gunstock" units they used to sell that had a trigger type cable release.
