Charles_Webster Posted May 24, 2011 Share Posted May 24, 2011
For several years, I have printed directly on CD/DVDs with a Epson R320, which performed admirably. However, it no longer performs at all, the heads are clogged beyond cleaning.

Can someone suggest a small, inexpensive printer that prints on CD/DVDs. Lightscribe is out of the question for many reasons. I use the printer only a couple of times a month, so I'm not interested in dedicated disk printers such as the Dymo. If it were a small all-in-one, I wouldn't mind at all because my year-old Lexmark is suffering similar problems also.

I'm not particularly interested in buying a used R320/200 from eBay, because there's no assurance it will work for very long, and I don't like buying consumer goods used.

Thanks in advance,

<Chas>

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

chris_fure Posted May 24, 2011 Share Posted May 24, 2011
I faced this dilemma last year and discovered the Epson Artisan 50. I've printed hundreds of discs flawlessly. Used to have an Epson R340 that worked ok for discs but had some issues. This printer - no issues. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=C11CA45201 Also, tried the Dymo DiscPainter last year - horrible, do not even consider it.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
suzyq Posted May 27, 2011 Share Posted May 27, 2011 I am not sure if it is still in production, but we use an Epson R280. It works very well and cost about a hundred dollars a few years ago. It makes good prints as well. Also, the new Epson R3000 will print on discs, but that is a bit steep in price. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
