#3) This one is called: "Not my house!" Another fresh snow storm and minus 11 degrees below zero. I stopped on my way home from work because I had eyed this house earlier and needed a break from my commute home which normally takes 40 minutes but took 2 1/2 hours due to the storm.
Happy Holidays everyone !

00cFrw-544373184.jpg.7e42a0a777b9a0c6bc5abf8c35dad897.jpg

Shot my son's team's indoor soccer tournament in very trying conditions. The venue is essentially a warehouse with two holes cut in the walls, turf, catwalks, and bleachers. And the lighting matches. Great test of the K-3, especially with the latest firmware (1.1) that is supposed to improve AF, which I believe really helped a lot. I ended up using the DA 70mm Ltd and shooting at f2.8 and ISO 6400 to ensure a 1/1000 shutter. Still had to jack exposure up by a stop in Lightroom, and semi-serious NR.
Coach Joe
Not an action shot literally, but I love his expression (the coaches played against each other in what turned into a intra-team game in the final qualifying round).

Great work you guys!
My son and I went out one evening after work earlier in the week to catch the moonrise from a nice spot overlooking town. He got some good photos and braved the cold (0 F, then the wind picked up - brrr!).
This shot was Earth & Sky's (earthsky.org) photo of the day and I also sold it to the local tourism association for their vacation planner.
K-3 & DA* 60-250/4 (love this lens!)
.
Yesterday I went for a long solo ski on a long rolling backcountry trail that is one of the safer areas for that around here in term of avalanche conditions. The snowpack is a little dicey right now so a scenic tour was the order of the day.
I shot this with my Sears 135/2.8 Macro. I was in a the mood for some prime shooting and just brought a few primes (8mm, 15mm, 40mm, 135mm) in the backpack. It was a beautiful day even though the shot I had in mind ended up being all socked in. I made do with other scenes like this.
K-3 & Sears 135/2.8 3 vertical frames stitched in Photoshop CS5.
.
Finally, one more from yesterday's ski tour.
Shot with the Rokinon 8/3.5 looking straight up.
.
I'm pretty sore from breaking trail for much of the day. I skied a little over 11 Miles and was out for about 6 Hrs! I'm ready to replenish those spent calories!
Everyone have a happy and safe Christmas (or whatever you celebrate)!
