Mark Keefer
It is a sad day, Polaroid announced they will stop making Instant Film.My first camera experience was with one of these camera. It is just sentimentalfor me. My son just bought one of these cameras for his girl friend this past Christmas. She had a digital camera but this instant film thing was new to the 18 yearolds, and is getting popular with the kids at his school. At least the kids gotto experience this cool technology. Maybe someone will come up with a digitalthat has a built in photo printer soon. :) Perhaps a small nitch market companywill pick up making film. Is 35 mm films days numbered? I have to admit I really like my Canon Digital Rebel XT, but I did experience ahard drive/system crash a few month ago. I regularly back up photos to DVD andCDs, but I lost several hundred photos. Digital has pros and cons over film. Istill have 35mm film from the 1970's and film and slides from my dad from the40's and 50's. No hard drive crash going to take those out. gary_watson
Tear-soaked Kleenex aside, doesn't Fuji still make and sell instant film and cameras(Instax)? Thought also that Fuji was actually making some instant films sold under Polaroid's brand.
phule
[[No hard drive crash going to take those out]] Mold and fire won't help. Nor will losing a box in a move (which is more common than you might think). I'd recommend backing up nightly to an external HD. Look to SyncBack SE for a nice automated (fire-and-forget) tool. markci
I think Fuji only makes the peel-apart type instant film.

Mark Keefer
http://manufacturing.net/News-Polaroid-Instant-Film-In-Demand.aspx Thanks Gary, it looks like a different camera. I don't see a current replacement film for the polaroid camera, but I did run across this article. Cheers, Mark
