ade_cob
Hi, I'm not sure if there is a small answer but what exactly is a "pigment transfer print" ???....I saw some the other day that had mad, wild, hyper colours and was just curious. They were not digital either... ta Ade
art_haykin
Those were no doubt Dye Transfers, and yes, they are glorious, and take a bit of doing.
art_haykin
BTW, there are several 3 color methods of printing, and dye transfers and carbros were quite popular when I was coming up.Do a Google.com search on these two processes, and check out the first few pages of listings. brian yarvin
Art, pigment transfer is different than dye transfer! Carbon and Carbro are types of pigment transfer processes and have a distinct quality and texture. Paul Outerbridge Carbro prints can frequently be found in Amercan art museums if you want to get a good look.

ade_cob
Thanks for the answers but i'm still a little hazy on what the processes actually are, and is there ways nowadays to do these processes. ta Ade
art_haykin
You MIGHT check with The Photographer's Formulary in Condon, Montana: Http://www.photoformulary.com, or formulary@montana.com, or 1-800-922-5255 for info. They sell chemicals and lab supplies, and cater heavily to the alternative process crowd.
jorge_gasteazoro4
Ok, first to your question, pigment transfer prints are thoser where the pigment and a sensitized medium, usually potassium dichromate are exposed to high intensity light (UV) on a temporary substrate and then the hardened gelating is transfered to a permanent support. As you can imagine you can do as many transfers as you wish. The process is not dissimilar to a dye transfer print. Second if you wish to know more visit Bostick and Sullivan's site and look in their web forum for Tempera prints. These are pigments prints done with acrylic paints I beleive.
