Oh those evil pinhole cameras

Recommended Posts

Yesterday an unidentified object was found in the Dutch city of Middelburg. It was taped to a roadsign. The authorities did not trust it so the road was blocked and people in nearby houses were instructed to stay inside. After a few hours it became clear that was a pinhole camera made from a beer can and photographic paper and the restrictions were lifted. Volunteers place these pinhole cameras in several places for the Philippus Lansbergen Observatory in Middelburg, Netherlands in order to capture the path of the sun across the sky for a period of six months. The resulting image shows the sun’s progressively higher route as the summer solstice approaches.
More info about the project: http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/space/stories/big-snapshot-summer-solstice . I could not find an english version of the news yet.
In defense of the authorities I must mention that lately a roadsign and a speed camera were blown up in nearby places but it looks as if we are becoming more paranoid every day.

Sounds a lot like the Airliner last week that got diverted, and a jet fighter escort when someones P&S camera showed up in the seatback pocket. Left behind from the previous flight!

Ah, the evil delays a Camera can create!
