mike_lyons
Hi to all and thanks in advance.I've been using NPH 400 in a roll film back for my LF camera and have found it seems to be underexposed consistently.Zone1 densities come in at approx .05 and Zone5 at .4-.5 above F+FB levels.Options;1.Rated film speed is out-can't do much about this except change my iso for the film. 2.meter is out-possible,but my Sekonic meter and spot meter in Nikon F-90 and 801-s agree within 1/3 of a stop. 3.Film processing lab is out-possible,but I ran two identically exposed films to two labs and they came back the same. 4.Shutter and apertures on all three lenses used are out-possible,but unlikely that all are out by the same amount at the same apertures and shutter speeds;tested at about what I use for landscapesHave I missed something?and where do I go from here.Sorry for the long post.Regards-Mike
steven_clark
Rate it as 320 then. Apparently negative films are often rated bit higher than a photographer might really like.
hellobob
I was never satisfied with results from print film as i have been a chrome shooter for years. Then i started exposing nph at 320 or 200 and have finally been pleased with my prints. Now i consistently overexpose all print film and find that results are good anywhere from 1/3 to even 2 stops o.e.
mike_lyons
O.K,I'll keep copious notes and down rate the film speed to 200 and 250 then see how I go.Thanks-Mike
bill_tuthill
Mike, do you know if the NPH you are using is the new 4-layer emulsion? My tests (35mm only) showed the old 3-layer NPH to be about 2/3 stop slower.
