Nikon Wednesday 2012: #38

  1. Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels on the longest side for in-line viewing, and please keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc).

Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: We're still testing out the idea of allowing members to post up to three images per week - let's see if that's still feeling like a good idea.
Hello Nikonistas, and a good Wednesday to everyone. Though we're still exploring the up-to-three images option for those in the mood, I'm just posting the one today. Still working my way through post on my Uncle Bob wedding shots from a couple weeks back. The groom's young cousin was on flower-girl duty, and I got her gazing at (of course) a bouquet of flowers held by a bridesmaid. Nothing like some outdoor light for such an occasion. Had your Nikon gear out for a formal affair? Share a photo (or three!).

  10. Greetings from the depths of northern Ontario.
It's 4C here right now and the coldest part of the night is yet to come (sigh).
This is Hattie subjected to a zoom while exposing.
  11. I got a new-to-me toy the other day, just in time for the San Francisco International Dragon Boat Festival. I didn't quite have the vantage point to get great shots of the races themselves, but I got a few interesting shots of the folks on land. The saturation and sharpness are absolutely unreal. In fact, I ended up using Adobe's D2X "mode 2" process.

  17. I was fortunate to spend some time last week at Crater Lake, Oregon, the deepest (and bluest) lake in the U.S. First one, of a sunset, doesn't even include the lake. But keep scrolling and you'll see it...
  18. Sunrise over Wizard Island...
  19. And the lake at midday...
  20. [IMG]Hello from Candiac Quebec. Jose C - very colorful outfits; John R quite the zoom there; Richard V nice lighthouse image - just to mention a few. A favorite spot of mine in Candiac is a waterfront park and I got these shots just after a big rain storm.

Happy Wednsaday! Just one from me today... finally got around experimenting with some star trail photography...turns out the "quiet" sky was not as quiet as thought, probably does not help to live even remotely close to an airport ;{ Well at least the Photoshop action works, these are ~ 300 images combined.
  42. My second shot of the day is that of an Amish Woman taking care of business at the Farmers Market.
  43. A fisherman fishing in a pond at one of our Ashland County Ohio parks.

  67. Morning all,
We took a group out to see the bats fly over the weekend. Her are a few variations on that theme.

  70. Hi everyone! Just one from me this week. I took a really short work related trip to Lapland, and was lucky enough to catch a faint glimpse of Aurora Borealis at night. This one is taken near Inari at the lake Muddus.
  71. Grabbing some street photos about a week ago before the rain and darkness took over.
  72. Artist on the street.
  73. Woman walking on the street.
  74. Thanks for the comment Shun. Yes, that is actually a single family home. Somehow I picture an architect living there.
  75. My daughter holding her doll at Disneyland
  76. Street walking in New Orleans.
  77. Continuing with my fireworks theme... I was invited by the guys from Pyrotechnico to come shoot while they set up for a show.
I haven't finished publishing this set, but as before, click through to see them on Flickr, including more from the set.
I want to turn it into a photo essay illustrating the huge amount of work that goes into setting up a show -- in this case, five hours for a seven-man crew to set up, 20 minutes to blow it all to smithereens, and then another hour to clean up.
  78. Greetings to all Nikonistas. A shot of some deadfall in the woods during a hike this past weekend. The contrast of the green and lush with the dead trees caught me.
  79. An indestructable KD connection
  80. Back from Death Valley, not as hot as expected, around 110F. I know that this is a very touristic picture but I enjoyed been there.
  81. Louis,
That is a very nice shot with the old Nikon F Photomic. Gotta love them oldies.
  82. Thanks John. The F still delivers the like a fine Swiss watch.
  83. Happy Wednesday all, I'm going to stay with the one image too, another shot from my on going Woodbridge River Series (NJ). Nikon D200, ISO125, 180mm AF-D, 1/400th @ f4
  84. 9/19/2012
    Nikon Buddies,
Much to like today, especially Chris R. Speaker. I love everything about that shot. Jose Curiel, I'm cracking up looking at those two girls in front of your first shot; great capture.
I'm cheating a little, today, as I've got four pictures in one. But all four are required to spell "LOVE". This couple had a great time in our photo booth at a recent wedding. This was one of their sessions. They're looking up at the monitor, instead of at the camera, but I thought they did a great job. Oh, and I replaced the bride and groom caption with our logo.
  85. Shot this weekend on a visit to a local county park this weekend.
  86. NIKON D7000 18-200MM @ 30MM F10, 1/400sec, ISO250
  87. Harry was jealous that I posted a photo of Hattie at the beginning of this thread so I promised that I'd post one of him near THE END

This is my first post on this thread! Attached is my first attempt at trying to capture good car shots, have a great week everyone.
  89. quick pic of a mural in Richmond CA
  90. Not posting any photo. I've not touched a camera for almost 2 weeks. We're in the middle of remodeling our kitchen & the whole house is upside down. I've also dealt with horrific headaches all week so I can't even think of hooking up one of my external HDs to find a photo to process & share. Too much for me right now.

Just wanted to say - nice shots as I've enjoyed looking at your shares.
