greg_nelson2
I've been reading up on negative intensification using selenium toner and have a few problem negatives I'd like to try it on. Before doing so, I have a question: If the film was fixed with a hardener, will that limit or prevent the intensification process?
shawn_stupidpost
I just re-read Adams' Negative, section on intensification, and there is absolutely no mention of hardener affecting the intensification. Though I know with prints it sometimes seems to take a little longer, and sometimes the toning doesn't seem to be as strong as normal, but I have only used hardening fixer in prints a couple of times. So I would go with Adams if no one else posts in the next little while.
michael_d._davignon1
Greg,
That generally should not be a problem. I get around issues of that nature by going through a short pre-saok before my selenium bath. 3- 5 minutes in water should do the trick.
Michael D. ed b.
I have intensified negatives after hardening with no problem.
