bart feliciano
I've been going through a bottle of Clayton F76+ at various dilutions for 35mm film with great results, but I wanted to know what would the minimum amount of raw concentrate would be for 6 sheets of 4x5 film? Just looking for that safety level before I start sloshing some HP5+ sheets around in it. Thanks in advance.
frank.schifano
I don't know what the published capacity of Claytons's F76 is, but I'm willing to be that it's pretty close to D76. In any case, four sheets of 4x5 film has approximately the same surface area as 1 roll of 36 exposure 35mm film. Do the math.
lowell_huff1
Hello Bart: Thank you for the use and kind words on our CLAYTON F76+ DEVELOPER. When you compare the cost of of the developer, diluted 1+9 or more, to the cost of six sheets of 4X5 film, why take a chance in mixing the minimum amount of chemical? One of the most often asked qustions that i get is about mixing correctly. The smaller the batch size, the more critical the measurement has to be. The point then becomes; what is the accuracy of your measuring device? I would suggest that you never mix less than 1 liter. Use it, throw it and enjoy the art produced. bart feliciano
My question is not related to cost. I'm experimenting with various developing tanks (rotary included),actually. The tank manufacturers instructions suggest tiny amounts of chemicals and I'm wondering what my safety line is, since I'm used to using 1+14 or 1+19 in a 2liter tank. lowell_huff1
If you tell me which processor it is, i can save you the experimentation and give you the times and temperature to work with most films. Dosen't the mfg. tell you the volume to use?
bart feliciano
I'm trying a 4 sheet Unicolor Drum w/motorized base. The Unicolor instructions indicate ~120ml of solution, so I'm worried that at my normal working dilutions that I may not actually have enough raw developer for proper development. lowell_huff1
We normally recommend a starting dilution of 1+5 for machine processing. What temperature does this machine hold?
bart feliciano
There's no temp control on this thing, so it's just ambient temp.
