Soak in water3 minutes, intensify for 5 min and that is all you will get in benefit, wash and dry. This will get 1/2 grade more contrast. It will not fix underexposure where shadows lack detail. Victor`s Intensifier will get more contrast boost. You will need to look up the formula on google and purchase the chemicals. Contains mercury and can be toxic. Bryant labs used to sell it. stephen_allan Posted September 29, 2005 Share Posted September 29, 2005 If you have sepia toner to hand it may be worth sepia toning your negative. If I remember correctly, Tim Rudman reported in his "Master Photographer's Toning Course" getting 1 1/2 to 2 grades better contrast for a properly exposed, but underdeveloped negative.
