jgredline
Over on the other forum I post in, one member started a Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 thread and so I thought I would postthe same here....It has been a while since I used mine so, I pulled out my Tamron 28-75 F/2.8 this morning and shot a few flowerson my way to work. It was a nice cloudy morning so I had good light. I was using my sons K100D Super for thesesince it was handy...No time for cropping or PP just resizing... <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><imgsrc='http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/9468/tamron28754qt6.jpg' border='0'/></a>-<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><imgsrc='http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/8211/tamron28753cs0.jpg' border='0'/></a>-<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><imgsrc='http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/3716/tamron28752ab7.jpg' border='0'/></a>-<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><imgsrc='http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/1752/tamron28751jl9.jpg' border='0'/></a>-<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><imgsrc='http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/397/tamron2875ct8.jpg' border='0'/></a>-<a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><imgsrc='http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/570/tamron28756xd2.jpg' border='0'/></a>
hagar
Nice shots Javier.. they look really crisp and sharp, with beautiful colors and contrast. I especially liked 1,4 and 6. Maybe I should look at getting this for a walk-around lens..
jgredline
Thanks Haig, This lens has a cult following among the Pentax world. It is one of those lenses that all should have. It is great in low light and the close focusing makes it ideal for small object. This lens has always been know for its great contrast and colors...My favorite was also number 1 and 6. They where both shot in bright mode with fill flash.
miserere_mei
I lusted over this lens for 6 months until I finally got it. The focal lengths suit me just fine on APS-C, as I'm not a wide guy, and the close-focusing (which remains constant throughout the focal range) is great. Here's some proof, and I applogise for posting it so large but I want you guys to appreciate the detail captured:<br> <center> <a href=" title="Freshly Rained by Miserere, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3036/2621897848_da57c8cdb0_o.jpg" width="691" height="864" alt="Freshly Rained" /></a><br> <b>Freshly Rained</b></center>
jgredline
Mis, That is awesome. I saw that in your gallery the other day and was wowed as well.... Here is another I shot a this morning as well...I do like the close focusing capabilities of this lens allot as well... Mis, I dedicate this image to you. I converted it to black and white in CS3.....Its a racing piston. These are tough to shoot because of the polished aluminum... <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/1174/imgp5416qf7.jpg' border='0'/></a>
miserere_mei
That a cool pic, Javier! And thanks for the dedication :-) Chromed surfaces are a female dog to photograph well, and I think you've done a good job here. Extra props for having Marilyn Monroe in there (whom I share initials with) .

shots worth sharing
Wow, nice photos! That must be a pretty nice lens but I can't really thank you for bringing it to my attention: now I'm going to want one. And, anyway, l've caught on: you guys could mount a coke bottle on your cameras and produce great stuff.
jgredline
Dave, wait till you see some of Peters Tamron 28-75 images..They kick ass!!! Oh, sorry, could I say that here...It is a donkey after all :)
jgredline
Ok, here is another one..This of a racing spark plug.... <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/8537/imgp5455gae9.jpg' border='0'/></a> - <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/2797/imgp5454la8.jpg' border='0'/></a>
jgredline
Ok, last one for me...This of my cell phone. <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/2765/imgp5421dw1.jpg' border='0'/></a>
miserere_mei
Javier, those spark plug photos are getting me sparked up, but I don't think it's the plug... Dave, I'm surprised you weren't aware of this lens. All I can say is this: I didn't lust over it for 6 months for nothing...and I wasn't disappointed. After the FA 50mm f/1.4, it's the best value-for-money lens out there. Anyone disagree?
michael_kuhne
Wow, these excellent closeups are a real seller!! I already have my fine Tokina fast, superbly built, 28-70 lens, however. But it is unfortunately not designed for closeups. Haig, a suggestion for walkaround- A 21mm Limited on camera, with this lens in a belt case. It probably comes with one. jgredline
Thanks Michael, I also have the Sigma 24-70 F/2.8 that I bought for the 4mm on the wide end. That too is a fine lens as is your Tokina...If you have some of images from the Tokina, please post them up. Would love to see them.
miserere_mei
Hmmm...I never got a case with mine. Did you, Javier?
jgredline
Nope, no belt case. I could never figure this out about Tamron. They give you a card board box and send you packing....Sigma gives out the greatest cases...Even the Pentax cases are pretty sad..
ken_yee
Bought/exchanged 3 from B&H and had to return all of them. First one didn't have BF/FF issues but was ultra fuzzy at 70mm (even doing portraits). Second one BF badly at 28mm. Third one BF slightly at 28mm and was fuzzy at 75mm but had been used (no clue why B&H would exchange a defective lens for a used one)-:
jgredline
Ken, I have heard that on a very rare occasion. I mean, I only heard of that happening one other time and the guy with his new replacement is very happy...
jgredline
Ok, since you ''ALL pulled my leg, here are a few more that I took this evening out in my wifes garden....Gosh, I have really enjoyed this lens today.... - - <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8263/imgp5489hd7.jpg' border='0'/></a> - <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2209/imgp5482hx5.jpg' border='0'/></a> - <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/304/imgp5475av3.jpg' border='0'/></a> - <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/'><img src='http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/319/imgp5474qs1.jpg' border='0'/></a>

shots worth sharing
Well, I guess I'll want to put my Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 EX DG through the paces first. I'm pretty pleased with it but haven't given it comparative scrutiny. It's clearly an either /or proposition for me.
ken_yee
Javier: I'm 0 for 3 so far. A friend who tried to get one for the Nikon mount went 0 for 2 before getting a Nikon 24-70 lens. I'll probably give it another shot soon. People who get good copies always seem to be happy with them...
hagar
I must admit, it's been a while since I looked at photos of spark plugs with such interest :-) And Michael.. please don't make suggestions like that.. It's bad enough me thinking about buying another lens without you adding another one! lol. Well, other then Ken, there seem to be no complaints.
