Help! Maxwell brightscreens for yashicamat 124g

Discussion in 'Medium Format' started by chuck_magers|2, Dec 10, 2017.

  1. Hello all! Been 20 years since I was on here last. Looking at reentering the vintage medium format realm. I went looking today for a 124g and also to see if Maxwell was still in business. I wanted to get a brightscreen for my Yashicamat once I nail down a good camera.

His site shows defunct. Does anyone know if he is still in business?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you

  2. Good question. I've got Maxwell screens on my three Rolleis. They work great.
  3. "Vintage" implies something that's old and of high quality, or special in some way. After a brief encounter with a 124G, I definitely wouldn't call it vintage.

The lens is nothing special, the meter's about as useful as a chocolate teapot, and the ability to take 220 film is now a redundant feature.

If I was shopping for a Yashi, I'd be looking at plain old 'mats. They really are 'vintage'.
